Lilly Wachowski's company, Anarchists United, has joined the sci-fi feature De Novo as an executive producer, Deadline reported on 4 November 2026. The film is written and directed by Jenna Kanell, and it is now in post-production, the stage where editing, sound and visual effects are finished after filming.

The story follows Jonah, a reclusive scientist who studies fungi. After a cosmic event, she discovers that she is trapped in a simulation run by a system she helped create.

Anarchists United is not the only new name on the credits. Sarah Marie Flores and Lawrence Mattis also joined as executive producers, alongside James Ward Byrkit. An executive producer usually helps with money, deals and oversight rather than the day-to-day work on set.

Kanell also stars, with Justin Chien, Alexis Louder and Frank Crim in the cast. Thang Ho and T.C. Barrera produce the film as Kanell's partners at HOCA Studio. Ahbra Perry, vice president of Chroma, is producing and also represents the film's distributor, and HOCA Studio's website lists her as an executive producer.

Chroma is a genre label, a brand for films in the science fiction, horror and fantasy range, that sits inside Narrative Global Sales. Narrative is a sales firm, a company that sells finished films to distributors and cinemas, and it launched recently with offices in the United States and the United Kingdom. The firm is bringing three projects to the American Film Market, the deal-making event where independent films are bought and sold before they reach audiences.

De Novo shares the Chroma label with two other projects. Father Figure won the 2026 Fantastic Pitches competition at Fantastic Fest, the genre film festival. Connor Martin wrote it and will direct, Josh Farnsworth is producing, and the team is aiming to shoot next year. The film centres on a young couple whose elopement is hijacked by a death cult determined to bring the groom's dead father back to life.

The third title is Stabbiest Season, due to film in 2027. Jack McDermott writes, directs and produces it. Olivia Simon is producing, and Alex Williams is executive producer.

That puts the three Chroma projects at three different stages. One is in editing, one is aiming for a shoot next year, and one is scheduled to film in 2027. Each has a different team behind it, and the label's sales work will carry them toward audiences once they are finished.
