CBS Extends Its Tony Awards Deal Through at Least 2032

The Tony Awards will stay on CBS through at least 2032, Billboard reported on 4 November 2026. The Broadway honours have aired on the network continuously since 1978, and the next ceremony is already dated.
The 80th Annual Tony Awards will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+ (Premium) in the United States on 13 June 2027. Paramount+ Premium is the paid tier of the streaming service, so viewers with that subscription can watch the broadcast online as well as on television.
The show's production team is also staying in place. Raj Kapoor, Sarah Levine Hall and Jack Sussman will return to produce the 2027 ceremony. Kapoor and Hall will serve as co-showrunners, the people who run the show's creative direction day to day. Patrick Menton and Rob Paine will be co-executive producers, and Menton will also head talent, overseeing which performers appear.
Who won at the 2026 ceremony? The show was hosted by P!nk. The big winner in the musical categories was Schmigadoon!, which took Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score Written for the Theatre, and Best Orchestrations, the arrangements that shape how a score sounds in the pit. Ragtime won Best Revival of a Musical, a category for new productions of older shows.
Ragtime also produced two of the evening's lead acting winners. Joshua Henry won Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, and Caissie Levy won the equivalent award for actresses. Kai Harada won Best Sound Design of a Musical for the same production.
On the plays side, Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman won Best Revival of a Play. Joe Mantello won Best Direction of a Play for the production, and Laurie Metcalf won Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play for it. Chloe Lamford won Best Scenic Design of a Play, and Jack Knowles won Best Lighting Design of a Play.
Other winners included John Lithgow, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play, for Giant. Lesley Manville won the matching actress award for Oedipus. Alden Ehrenreich won Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play for Becky Shaw.
The Lost Boys took two featured acting awards, to Ali Louis Bourzgui and Shoshana Bean, along with Best Scenic Design of a Musical for Dane Laffrey and Best Lighting Design of a Musical for Jen Schriever and Michael Arden. Cats: The Jellicle Ball won Best Direction of a Musical for Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch, Best Choreography for Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons, and Best Costume Design of a Musical for Qween Jean.
The ceremony also handed out special honours. Andre Bishop, James Lapine and Jules Fisher received Special Tony Awards for lifetime achievement in the theatre. The League of Resident Theatres received a Special Tony Award, and Mary-Mitchell Campbell received the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award. Loren Plotkin, 1/52 Project, Kenn Lubin and Jake Bell received Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre.
For anyone following the awards for the first time, the Tonys are voted on by a panel of theatre professionals and cover both plays and musicals. The 2027 ceremony gives the next group of nominees and winners a fixed date in June, and a broadcast deal that now runs at least into the next decade.
