West Ham were three goals down at Cardiff City and still came away with a 3-3 draw in the Championship, England's second tier, on Wednesday 4 November. It was the first match for Scott Parker as head coach, the manager in charge of training and team selection.

Parker was confirmed earlier that day, replacing Nuno Espirito Santo, who was sacked on the Tuesday. According to The Guardian, Parker has signed a two-and-a-half year contract. He inherited a side that had gone behind early and often.

The afternoon belonged to Cardiff's Jack Moylan at first. He opened the scoring in the 11th minute and later converted a penalty in the 37th, a spot kick awarded after a foul in the box. He scored three goals before half-time, a hat-trick, and Cardiff went in 3-0 up.

West Ham did not fold. Divine Mukasa pulled one back in the 58th minute, latching on to a long ball over the top from Jarrod Bowen. Then, in the 82nd minute, Max Kilman scored the equaliser, again from a cross by Bowen. Bowen's pass was the moment that turned the game around.

Scoring three goals in a half is rare, and so is coming back from three down to take a point. For Parker, it is a start that gives him something to build on, even if a draw is not the win he would have wanted.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Middlesbrough lost 2-0 away to Wrexham. George Thomason gave the home side the lead in the 70th minute, and Oli Rathbone added a second in the 84th.

At Bristol City, Scott Twine put the home side ahead with a curling free-kick, a shot that bends through the air around the wall. Wolves hit back through substitute Sean Neave, who scored in the 82nd and 89th minutes to win 2-1. Neave is on loan at Wolves from Newcastle, meaning he is playing for the club on a temporary deal while still contracted to Newcastle.

Between them, the four matches in the round-up gave plenty of drama. Cardiff and West Ham will probably remember the second half longest.
