Edward Berger Named Evolution Vision Award Recipient as Brad Pitt's The Riders Finishes Filming

Filming on The Riders, the Brad Pitt film, is already finished. Director Edward Berger confirmed the milestone at the Evolution Mallorca Film Festival, where he is the recipient of this year's Evolution Vision Award, according to Variety.
The Riders is an upcoming A24 film. A24 is financing the picture and will distribute it, which means the studio will handle getting the finished film to cinemas and audiences. Berger, who directed Conclave, described the project as a singular perspective story told through the eyes of Pitt.
The film is adapted from the novel of the same name by Tim Winton. David Kajganich wrote the screenplay, and the producers include Scott Free, Nine Hours, Plan B and Kajganich himself.
Berger described the plot as following a man who is renovating a cottage in 1980s Ireland. He then sets off on a journey across Europe, through Greece, Brussels and Amsterdam, with his daughter, in search of his wife. Cineuropa reported in February that the film had entered production in Ireland and centres on an Australian man who moves to rural Ireland.
Seven-year-old Coco Greenstone plays Pitt's on-screen daughter. The wider cast includes Julianne Nicholson, Danny Huston, Camille Cottin, Michael Smiley and Lara Pulver.
Pitt is not the only name on the festival's honours list. Cinematographer Matthew Libatique is also being honoured at Evolution Mallorca alongside Berger, as Variety reported earlier in the autumn. The 2026 edition is the festival's 15th.
Evolution Mallorca is one of many stops where film-makers meet the industry that will eventually decide how their work reaches the public. Awards like the Vision Award give the director a public moment while the film is still in its post-production stage. For anyone waiting to see the finished film, the next signal will be the release plan from A24.
