US Man Jailed for Life Over Deaths of Russian Partner and Infant Daughter in Rome

An Italian court has found Francis Kaufmann, a U.S. man, guilty of murdering his Russian partner and their infant daughter, and he has been jailed for life, Yahoo News reported.
The victims were Anastasia Trofimova, who was 28, and the couple's daughter Andromeda, who was 11 months old. Their bodies were found on June 7, 2025, in Villa Pamphili, a park in Rome. According to CNN, the two were found separately in overgrown areas of the park. Reuters reported that the bodies were naked.
Italian police arrested a U.S. citizen in connection with the deaths. Reuters reported the arrest on June 13, 2025, citing a source. The bodies had been identified with help from a television programme that specialises in missing people, according to The New York Times.
CNN reported in July 2025 that the American accused was 46 years old and had faced a preliminary hearing in Rome, an early court session in which a judge reviews the evidence before a trial. The case then moved through the Italian courts to the verdict now reported.
The verdict is the latest step in a case that began with the discovery of the bodies in a Rome park.
