Paul Bettany has been cast as a lead opposite Steven Yeun in Pagans, a supernatural drama coming to Netflix, Deadline reported on 5 November 2026.

Bettany will play Mag, a charismatic stranger. Yeun plays Gus, a man who becomes the sole caretaker of his two children after the sudden loss of his wife. The show is written and run by Joshua Zetumer, who created the limited series Say Nothing. He is also the executive producer and showrunner, meaning he leads the writers and oversees the series from script to final cut.

The rest of the family at the centre of the story is also cast. Logan Kim plays Nate, Gus's son. Sabine Grace plays Alice, his daughter. Marin Ireland plays Janelle, a single mother, and Intae Kim plays Casey, Gus's younger brother.

Drew Goddard, Sarah Esberg, Jonathan van Tulleken, Erica Kay, Steven Yeun and Christina Oh are also listed as executive producers. An executive producer is a senior figure who helps guide a show's money, people and direction, often without being on set each day.

Netflix ordered Pagans straight to series in October, according to Netflix's own Tudum page. A straight-to-series order means the streamer committed to a full season without first shooting a pilot, a single test episode that decides whether a show goes ahead. That step is often skipped for projects with a strong team behind them, though the streamer has not said how many episodes the first season will run.

Yeun is well known to television audiences. He won an Emmy Award for Beef, and he received an Oscar nomination for his performance in Minari, Yahoo Entertainment reported earlier this year. Those two honours sit in different corners of the industry, one for television and one for film, which is why his casting is often mentioned alongside his earlier work.

No release date has been announced yet. For viewers, the next steps are the usual ones for a show at this stage: a start date for filming, a launch window and a first look at the cast in action. Until Netflix or the production team confirms those details, the timing remains open.

Behind every cast announcement is a production crew, and a series like this one will need writers, camera operators, set builders and actors' families of support staff, all working toward a finished season. Whether that season reaches screens depends on what happens once filming begins.
