Levon Hawke Joins Anthony Hopkins in Gregory Caruso's "Twenty-Seven"

Levon Hawke will star opposite Anthony Hopkins in "Twenty-Seven," a drama written and directed by Gregory Caruso, Variety reported on 5 November 2026. The film is already in production in Los Angeles.
For Hawke, it is his first lead role. He is the son of actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, and the younger brother of actor Maya Hawke.
He plays a 27-year-old aspiring screenwriter. The character is trying to break into the film industry while managing his relationships and obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, a condition that brings unwanted, repeated thoughts and urges.
Hopkins plays Hawke's friend and mentor. His character is an 80-year-old former television actor who now teaches theatre, and he is fighting Parkinson's disease, a long-term condition that affects movement.
The film comes from Caruso's company, Bristol Pictures. David Worthen Brooks and Dustin Cook will produce, according to the same report.
What makes the casting stand out is the pairing. A first-time lead is working in a close scene partnership with one of the best-known actors of his generation, and the two characters are bound by friendship and mentorship. Those roles put the emotional weight of the story on the relationship between them.
Caruso's name may be familiar to fans of his earlier work as a writer and director, and this project brings him back to the kind of intimate, character-led drama that tends to be built around a few people in one room. Shooting is under way now, so the next stage will be a closer look at how the film is finished and sold.
