Lionsgate Studios said its revenue rose 41% to $667 million in its fiscal second quarter, which covers the three months to September. The figure beat what Wall Street analysts had expected, according to Deadline.

The studio also cut its loss sharply. It reported a net loss of $15.5 million for the quarter, down from $113.5 million a year earlier. A net loss is what is left after all costs are paid, so a smaller figure means the business lost less money overall.

Lionsgate is best known for film franchises, but its television arm is growing fast. Its TV production revenue rose 56% to $309 million, and TV segment profit climbed 73% to $21.6 million. The company said it expects to roughly double its number of scripted deliveries in fiscal 2027 compared with fiscal 2026. Scripted means shows with written screenplays, as opposed to reality or documentary formats. A delivery is a finished programme handed over to a broadcaster or streaming service.

The film side also grew. Motion Picture revenue rose 30% to $359 million, and segment profit reached $89 million. The studio has one major release coming soon. The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping opens later in November.

Behind the newer releases sits the back catalogue. Lionsgate's library, the collection of older films and shows that keeps earning licensing fees, generated $1.04 billion in revenue over the trailing 12 months. That is the studio's second-highest library total on record, according to Deadline's report of the results. The company says the library holds more than 20,000 titles.

Lionsgate became a standalone public company in 2025, when it separated from the Starz premium channel. It trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker LION.

The quarter also marks a turn in the numbers the company has posted this year. In its fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, reported in May, Lionsgate posted revenue of $906.5 million and operating income of $117.5 million, up 52% on the year before, according to its earnings release filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Its first quarter of fiscal 2027, reported in August, brought revenue of $776.6 million, up 48%.

For viewers, the practical effect is more shows. A studio that plans to double its scripted output is lining up a larger slate of series for broadcasters and streaming platforms. Each order brings writers, actors and crew into work for months, and Lionsgate's plan points to more of that across the coming year.
