SNL writer Jimmy Fowlie pays tribute to sister after boyfriend and another woman are charged in her death

Jimmy Fowlie, a writer for Saturday Night Live, has paid tribute to his sister, Christina Downer, on her birthday. He did so after police announced arrests in connection with her death.
In an Instagram video reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Fowlie shared footage of himself and Downer at a movie theatre, standing in front of a display for the film Tron: Ares. He described the moment as their last time together. He also said the charges filed in her death bring relief to his family and her friends.
Downer's boyfriend, Delorean Bijon Brandon, 41, and Kaylee Nicole Markowski, 34, have been charged in connection with her murder, according to KRQE. Both are residents of Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department announced on Oct. 30 that the two were arrested on Oct. 29. Charges are allegations, and they have not yet been tested in court.
Downer was 38. She was reported missing on Dec. 18, 2025, after her ex-husband asked for a welfare check because he had not heard from her. Her cellphone was later found washed ashore on Santa Monica Beach. Detectives from the police department's Robbery-Homicide Division then took over the investigation.
On Dec. 22, 2025, Fowlie posted online asking for help finding his sister. In April, he said the LAPD had told the family that Christina was no longer alive. The case had changed from a missing person search to a homicide investigation.
Brandon has claimed that Downer moved out several months before she was reported missing, leaving behind her belongings, including her car and her dog. KTLA reports that Los Angeles prosecutors allege the boyfriend killed her more than a year ago. The Los Angeles Times reports that restraining order petitions and court documents have shed light on the alleged killing.
For Fowlie and the people who knew Downer, the arrests mark a turn after nearly a year of searching and waiting. The case now moves to the courts, where prosecutors will have to prove the charges.
