Young voters chose Democratic candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives by a wide margin in the 2026 midterm elections, according to the research group CIRCLE. CIRCLE reported that 66% of young voters backed a Democratic House candidate, and that the margin for Democrats in youth vote choice was 35 points.

The group also reported that 70% of young women voted for a Democratic House candidate, compared with 59% of young men.

A separate national survey, the AP Voter Poll, found that about 7 in 10 voters under 30 supported the Democratic candidate in their local House race. The same poll reported that President Donald Trump's 2024 coalition showed signs of faltering in the midterms, including among young voters. The Associated Press published those findings on November 4.

The Washington Post reported on November 5 that younger voters chose Democrats by more than 30 percentage points in House races.

NPR reported on November 6 that voters under 30 voted for Democrats at much higher rates than in 2024. The network said young voters played a large role in Democratic wins in Tuesday's midterm elections. The Morning Edition report was written by Elena Moore and A Martínez.

Young voters made up a small part of the total electorate. According to the AP Voter Poll, only about 1 in 10 voters in the 2026 midterms were under 30.
