Northamptonshire Tie Down All-Rounder Louis Kimber to 2028

Northamptonshire have extended the contract of all-rounder Louis Kimber, keeping the 29-year-old at the club until the end of the 2028 season. The club's news was reported by BBC Sport on 6 November 2026.
An all-rounder is a player who both bats and bowls. Kimber's batting has done most of the talking so far. He has scored 1,685 first-class runs in his career. First-class cricket is the longer, multi-day form of the game, and the County Championship is the main domestic competition in England that uses it.
Kimber did not start his career at Northamptonshire. He came to the club from Leicestershire, which had released him. Northamptonshire first signed him on a two-year deal, as BBC Sport reported in 2025.
In that first season with the club, Kimber scored 175 runs and took one wicket. Across the County Championship and the T20 Blast, he has now played 17 matches for Northamptonshire. The T20 Blast is England's domestic Twenty20 tournament, where each side bats and bowls for 20 overs.
One innings stands out in the club's recent record. In May, Kimber scored 66 in Northamptonshire's win at Gloucestershire. His contribution helped the side collect a result on the road, a useful reminder of what a middle-order batter can do when the game is in the balance.
For Northamptonshire, the extension means continuity. Their head coach is Darren Lehmann, and the club now has a player under contract through the 2028 season. Kimber's future with the side is now set for the next two seasons and beyond, with his place in the squad still to be tested on the field.
