Xochitl Gomez is voicing Gabby, the older sister, in the animated film The Cat in the Hat. It is her first voiceover role, and she was the first person in her family to be cast, she told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published on 6 November 2026.

The film is directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja. Bill Hader voices the title character, the Cat himself. The studio, Warner Bros., also lists Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Paula Pell, Tiago Martinez and Giancarlo Esposito in the cast. A voice role means an actor records lines in a studio, with no on-screen face, so the performance rests entirely on sound.

Gabby is Sebastian's older sister. Hola describes her as one of the two children the Cat is assigned to look after.

Gomez is already known to many audiences. She appeared in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen. In 2023 she competed on Dancing with the Stars with professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy and won season 32 of the show.

She is currently working on another project. Gomez told The Hollywood Reporter she was filming Bad Influence, an adult road-trip horror movie, in Kentucky.

Her interest in who gets to make and star in films also goes beyond her own roles. In January she organised an open letter to Hollywood. It called for more Latino voices in the rooms where films are greenlit, meaning approved for production, and in lead roles on screen.

For many families, a voice role in a family animation is a way to see a Latina teenager at the centre of a story. Gomez's part puts her at the heart of a film built around two children and a very large, very chaotic cat.
