Alex Cooper Moves to CAA, Taking Her Production Company With Her

Alex Cooper, the host of the hit podcast Call Her Daddy, has signed with CAA, one of the biggest talent agencies in Hollywood. Her producing partner Matt Kaplan and their company, The Unwell banner, have signed too, Deadline reported on Friday 6 November.
A talent agency finds work for its clients and negotiates their deals. "Signed with" means the agency now represents them, so it will look for their next projects and handle the terms.
Cooper had been represented by UTA, another large agency, for several years. She left UTA in summer 2026. In August, Deadline reported that she had left and was in talks to join CAA, amid what it described as upheaval in her media empire. Variety linked the exit to a tough stretch of media scrutiny. Yahoo reported that she parted ways with UTA after news about Unwell's newest investor.
That investor is Patrick Whitesell's company WTSL. In August 2026, WTSL invested in Unwell at a valuation of $500 million, which is the value the investment put on the company. Unwell is the business behind Cooper's podcast and a growing slate of TV and online projects.
Cooper and Kaplan run TRNDG, a company that brings together Call Her Daddy and Kaplan's film and TV business. Unwell has been busy beyond podcasts. It has produced YouTube original series Winter Games and Summer Games, and it has launched its own in-house advertising and creative agency. Earlier in 2026, it also shut down a drinks business.
Much of the TV work is still early. Unwell has reality series in development at Netflix and Hulu, including Let's Marry Harry on Netflix and Love Overboard on Hulu. "In development" means a studio is working on a project but filming has not started. Unwell is also involved in the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary special.
The scripted projects are in the same early stage. Netflix is developing an adaptation of Hannah Grace's novel Icebreaker through Unwell. Hulu is developing You Deserve To Know, a drama starring Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley. That project comes from Unwell and Aaron Kaplan's Kapital Entertainment, according to Deadline's June 2026 report.
Cooper, Kaplan and Unwell are keeping their existing lawyers. Attorneys Matt Thompson and Emily Zipperstein at Sidley Austin LLP, James Feldman at Lichter Grossman Nichols Feldman Rogal Shikora & Clark, and Shaun Gordon at Weintraub Tobin all continue to act for them.
For a company that started with a podcast, the list now runs from audio to reality TV, scripted drama and online series. The new agency will be handling much of that next stretch. Most of the projects named so far have not yet reached filming, so the next confirmed step for each is still to come.
