Trump Offers UFC Boss Dana White the White House Press Secretary Job

President Donald Trump says he has offered the job of White House press secretary to Dana White, the head of the UFC, the mixed martial arts league. Trump made the announcement on Saturday, November 7, 2026, in a Truth Social post saying White "has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States," according to Deadline.

The press secretary is the official who speaks to reporters for the administration and briefs them from the White House podium. White has not accepted the role, Deadline reported.

Trump also asked that White bring a group of assistants with him. The names were Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes and Kayla Harris. Deadline reported that all six are, or were, UFC fighters.

The vacancy follows the firing of Katie Zacharia, who lasted five days in the job. She gave only one press briefing before she was let go. Deadline reported that Zacharia had described herself as a lawyer, although she had never taken the bar exam, the test needed to practise law in the United States.

The opening comes as the White House reshuffles its senior staff. On Friday, November 6, Trump appointed Stephen Miller as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, Deadline reported. Trump had also recently said that putting the rapper Nicki Minaj in the press secretary role would be "a good idea," according to the same report.

White's links to the White House are not new. He hosted and organised a mixed martial arts cage fight staged on the White House lawn to mark Trump's 80th birthday.

For now, the offer is an offer. White has not said yet whether he will take the job. He still runs the UFC, the company that stages fights around the world and broadcasts them to fans on streaming and pay-per-view platforms.
