Catherine, Princess of Wales, Attends Festival of Remembrance With Prince William

Catherine, Princess of Wales, and Prince William, the Prince of Wales, attended the Festival of Remembrance together at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Saturday. Town & Country reported the couple's attendance and published photographs from the evening.
The festival is an evening of music, military displays and commemoration organized by the Royal British Legion, a charity that supports serving members of the armed forces and veterans. It takes place on the Saturday before Remembrance Sunday, the national day for remembering the dead of war. The Legion says the evening uses personal stories, storytelling and music to thank members of the armed forces, past and present.
Buckingham Palace said this year's theme is Places of Remembrance. The festival was founded to honor the service and sacrifice of the British and Commonwealth armed forces.
The princess has attended every year since 2015. Last year she went without her husband. Prince George went with her instead, and the prince had just returned from the Earthshot Prize in Brazil. Earthshot is an environmental award that the prince created in 2020.
For the 2026 evening, the princess wore a pair of diamond earrings that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. They are called Orbital earrings, and some people call them Frame earrings. The queen wore them to the State Opening of Parliament in 2012. That is the annual ceremony where the monarch reads a speech written by the government to open a new session of Parliament, the UK's national lawmaking body. The princess first wore the earrings in 2016.
The festival comes a day before Remembrance Sunday, when the country pauses for two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. on November 11 and holds services at war memorials across the nation. For Americans, the closest match is Memorial Day, although the British observance is held in November and focuses on the First World War and later conflicts.
The couple's joint appearance was a public one, held in a crowded hall before television cameras. Their children did not attend.
