Kirby Howell-Baptiste plays Edison, a party girl whose unannounced arrival upends the life of a New York club promoter in Club Kid, Variety reported on 7 November 2026.

The film is a coming-of-age comedy drama about a hard-partying club promoter who is forced to face life and its responsibilities. Jordan Firstman wrote, directed and stars in it, playing the promoter, Peter. Deadline called it Firstman's father-son comedy when it reviewed the film during its Cannes Film Festival coverage in May 2026.

Edison, as Variety describes her, is a massive party girl who never sleeps and only parties. Howell-Baptiste called her character "a complete tornado." Deadline, in a May interview clip, described Edison as a British clubber and Peter as a drug-addled promoter.

The plot starts when Edison shows up at Peter's apartment with 10-year-old Arlo. She tells Peter that Arlo is his son, brought over from the U.K. to live with him for good. Reggie Absolom plays Arlo.

Edison's visit brings out more than one secret. She also tells Peter that she had sex with her friend Leonine a decade earlier, when both were high on ketamine, cocaine and GHB, a mix of drugs that is taken to party. Variety reports that the revelation adds to the strain on Peter, who has to deal with a child he did not know he had.

Then Edison leaves Arlo in Peter's care. She does not come back to collect him as she promised. Peter sets out to find her, searching house parties across New York.

Cara Delevingne and Colleen Camp are also in the cast, according to Deadline's Cannes coverage. The film's story puts a party scene and a parenting problem side by side, which is a tough combination to pull off on screen. Casting a well-known lead, writing the script and directing the film are all decisions made by people long before any audience sees it. For Club Kid, those choices produced a story that is now public.
