Trump Offers UFC Chief Dana White the White House Press Secretary Job

President Donald Trump has offered Dana White, chief executive of the UFC, the professional mixed martial arts organisation, the job of White House press secretary. The offer was made public on Saturday, and White said at a news conference in London that he would meet Trump at the White House on Monday to discuss it.
On Saturday, Trump wrote on Truth Social: "Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other" and "Dana, please take the job!" When announcing the offer, he described White as "a violent Fighter and Warrior," according to Hindustan Times.
WTOP and Hindustan Times reported that White declined the offer. The Washington Post reported that White declined to discuss it, and that he is a longtime political supporter of Trump. The Washington Post Trump also asked White to bring assistants with him, some of whom are not from the United States, and named six current and former UFC title holders to join him: Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes.
The press secretary is the White House official who speaks to reporters on the administration's behalf. The post has been empty since Katie Zacharia's tenure ended last month after five days. She had succeeded Karoline Leavitt, who stepped down at the end of August.
The White House has existing ties to the UFC. In June, it hosted UFC fights as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of US independence. White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung worked for the UFC from 2013 to 2016.
Separately, Trump announced on Friday that Stephen Miller would replace Susie Wiles as White House chief of staff. Trump said the change on Truth Social, and Miller is set to take over starting Monday, November 9.
