A small plane made an emergency landing on a road in Fort Myers, Florida, on Saturday, November 7, and struck the rear of a pickup truck, according to The Guardian. The aircraft was a Cessna 172 with two people on board. The Lee County Sheriff's Office, the local police agency for the area, reported that no injuries occurred.
The plane took off from Sebring, Florida, at about 11 a.m. and came down roughly 50 minutes later, at about 11:45 a.m. The landing took place near Bayshore Road and Interstate 75, a major highway. The sheriff's office was on scene.
The pickup was traveling eastbound on Bayshore Road. CBS12 reported that the small plane slid along the roadway as it clipped the truck.
The pilot reported an engine problem before the landing, according to a statement from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the federal agency that oversees civil aviation in the United States. The FAA is the lead agency investigating the incident.
