Kacey Musgraves has cancelled three dates on her Middle of Nowhere tour, including what was supposed to be the opening night, with no explanation provided. The August 20 Chicago show had been set as the tour's first night. According to Ticketmaster's current listing, the Middle of Nowhere tour will now begin on August 21 in Chicago instead. All three affected cities — Chicago, Boston, and New York — were scheduled to host multiple Musgraves shows, and tickets for the remaining dates in those cities are still available.

Musgraves has not publicly addressed the cancellations. No statement has been posted to her official social media accounts, and no reason has been given by her team or the venues.

The tour supports Musgraves's album Middle of Nowhere, released on May 1. The record had a strong commercial start: it launched with 100,000 equivalent album units — the measure that combines physical sales, digital sales, and streaming activity into a single album figure — in the United States in the week ending May 7, marking Musgraves's best week ever by that metric.
