President Curtis, the first-ever spinoff of Rick and Morty, premieres on Adult Swim on 26 July 2026 — and it arrives already renewed for a second season. The early renewal was reported by The Hollywood Reporter and Polygon on 24 July, two days before the series premiere The Hollywood Reporter. Warner Bros. Discovery had flagged the show in its 2026 upfront presentation, describing it as "Adult Swim's new adult animated comedy" set in the Rick and Morty universe WBD Press Release.

Rick and Morty is now in its ninth season and 13th year on Adult Swim. President Curtis takes a recurring character from that world — President Andre Curtis, voiced by Keith David — and gives him his own show. Dan Harmon, co-creator of Rick and Morty, co-created President Curtis with James Siciliano. The spinoff slots in right after the Rick and Morty season finale on Adult Swim's schedule Polygon.

The show keeps the look of its parent series. Variety's review, published 26 July, describes it as an animated procedural with dense 2D sight gags and visual continuity with Rick and Morty Variety. Each episode sends Curtis and his team after a new supernatural or conspiratorial threat rather than any governing agenda. Stephanie Beatriz voices Banks, a cyborg chief of staff. Jim Rash plays Special Agent O'Doyle, a Secret Service agent who is half leprechaun.

One thing the spinoff leaves behind is the multiverse. Rick and Morty built much of its structure on infinite versions of its characters across dimensions. President Curtis is set mostly on Earth with a single version of each character. The Hollywood Reporter published its own review on 24 July, ahead of the premiere The Hollywood Reporter.

Adult Swim's own schedule page lists the premiere as a "Pilot" airing at 8:30 pm PDT, rated TV-14 (DLV) Adult Swim Schedule. The listing's episode description begins: "President Andre Curtis goes head-to-head with the CIA over the possession of a…" — the rest cut off on the public listing.

For the parent series, Rick is now voiced by Ian Cardoni and Morty by Harry Belden, both of whom took over the roles following the departure of original voice actor Justin Roiland. Whether they or other Rick and Morty characters cross over into President Curtis remains to be seen — the show's first episode has not yet aired as of this writing.

What makes the launch notable is the vote of confidence behind it. A second-season order before a single episode has been broadcast is a straight-to-series bet — meaning Adult Swim committed to more without waiting for overnight ratings or streaming numbers to come in. For a crew of writers, animators and voice actors, that means the work continues past premiere night.
