Ariana Grande gave 21,000 fans at Montreal's Bell Centre the first live performance of 'Petal' on July 28, 2025 — the title track of an album she is releasing two days later, on Friday, July 31, 2025 (Billboard).

The song is one of eight tracks on Petal, Grande's eighth studio album. The full tracklist reads: 'kiss me,' 'hate that i made you love me,' 'petal,' 'stay,' 'oh well,' 'big feelings,' 'freak,' and 'warning signs (interlude).' Grande has been revealing the titles one song at a time during her Eternal Sunshine Tour, which kicked off in early June 2025 (Billboard).

Montreal got more than the new title track. Grande also performed part of 'Worst Behavior,' a cut from the deluxe edition of her 2021 album Positions, for the first time live (Billboard).

The Petal rollout has been layered. The lead single, 'Hate That I Made You Love Me,' debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — the weekly US singles chart — giving Grande the tenth No. 1 hit of her career. Her previous album, Eternal Sunshine, spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (the US album chart) and produced two Hot 100 chart-toppers: 'Yes, And?' and 'We Can't Be Friends (Wait for Your Love).' In the weeks before the Montreal show, Grande also hosted listening parties for Petal across Canada (Billboard Canada).

The day after the Montreal debut, Grande posted Instagram photos from the set of an upcoming visual project, captioning them with lyrics from 'Petal.' She has also introduced a new character named 'Pepper' in a black-and-white teaser clip tied to the album's storytelling universe (Billboard).

The album is available for pre-order in several physical formats: a CD, a translucent pearly white vinyl LP with a gatefold jacket and a 16-page lyric-and-photo booklet, and a recycled black cassette. The digital album is priced at $9.99 on Grande's official online store (Ariana Grande Shop).

After Montreal, the Eternal Sunshine Tour heads to Chicago for three shows, then closes with a 10-night run at the O2 Arena in London. By the time that residency ends, Petal will already be out — and the full tracklist, already revealed piece by piece on stage, will be available to hear in full.

For fans, the Montreal night offered something that streaming never quite delivers: hearing a song for the first time from the person who wrote it, standing in the room where she decided to share it.
