Descendants: Wicked Wonderland Soundtrack Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard Kid Albums Chart

The soundtrack to Disney's Descendants: Wicked Wonderland has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Kid Albums chart, marking the fifth chart-topping soundtrack from the Descendants franchise on that ranking (Billboard).

The Kid Albums chart ranks the most popular children's albums in the United States by equivalent album units — the measure that converts streams and sales into a single album-sales figure — as compiled by Luminate. The tracking week for this chart ended July 23.

Descendants: Wicked Wonderland is the fifth film in Disney's Descendants franchise and the sequel to Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024). The film premiered on Disney Channel on July 16 and arrived on the Disney+ streaming service the following day.

Beyond the Kid Albums summit, the soundtrack made moves across several other Billboard rankings. It entered the Billboard Soundtracks chart at No. 2 and landed at No. 88 on the Billboard 200, the magazine's flagship album chart covering all genres. On the Billboard Independent Albums chart, the album debuted at No. 13.

The Billboard 200 entry makes Wicked Wonderland the fifth Descendants-verse soundtrack to open in the top half of that chart. The franchise's earlier soundtracks set a higher bar: the first three — released in 2015, 2017 and 2019 — all debuted in the Billboard 200's top 10, with the original 2015 Descendants soundtrack entering at No. 1.

The franchise also holds four prior No. 1 debuts on the Billboard Soundtracks chart, giving the series a strong track record across compilation-based rankings.

Wicked Wonderland is the third television soundtrack to reach the Billboard 200 in 2026, following soundtracks from Heated Rivalry and Stranger Things 5. On the Kid Albums chart dated July 11, the Toy Story 5 soundtrack held the No. 1 position and the Moana soundtrack sat at No. 2, ahead of the Descendants album's arrival (Billboard).

The film's cast brings familiar names to both screen and soundtrack. Brandy portrays Cinderella, a role she originated in Disney's 1997 television film Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (Billboard). Rita Ora appears as the Queen of Hearts. Both performers are credited on the soundtrack album.

For a franchise now five films deep, the chart debut confirms that the Descendants audience — built on Disney Channel premieres and Disney+ availability — continues to translate viewership into music consumption in measurable volumes.
