Nike Launches Studio Fleece: A Women's Line Built From 300-Plus Athlete Interviews

Nike launched Studio Fleece on 28 July 2026, a new women's clothing line the company calls "The Ultimate Uniform for the Everyday Athlete" (WWD). The collection went live on Nike.com two days before the announcement, with pieces already appearing in the brand's back-to-school shopping guide (Nike.com).

The line was developed from feedback gathered from more than 300 women globally, with Nike's product team focusing on four benchmarks: softness, comfort, structure, and colour performance. Jill Gonzalez, Nike's senior manager of product line management, and Claire Durfe, the company's lead apparel designer, are quoted in the launch announcement.

Studio Fleece offers tops and bottoms in two fits — a classic standard cut and a roomier oversize silhouette — across three weights: light, medium, and heavyweight. The light and medium pieces use a five-time suded face treatment for softness. The heavyweight version uses a brushed, reverse-heather construction, a method that pushes the fuzzy texture to the surface of the fabric.

Two colours anchor the range: Birch Heather and Total Black. The black uses a new dye formula designed to hold its depth through at least 30 washes — a direct response to the way dark fleece tends to fade and grey over time. Each piece carries a Lyon blue label to separate it from Nike's existing fleece lines. Hood construction, proportions, trims, and finishes were all updated from the brand's standard fleece templates.

Pricing is mid-range. The Studio Fleece Lightweight Women's Mid-Rise Shorts sell for USD 50 on Nike.com. The Medium Weight Women's Oversized Pullover Hoodie is USD 80. A full-zip hoodie and mid-rise shorts in the medium weight are also available, and Nike has built a dedicated size-and-fit guide page for the collection (Nike.com).

Figure skater Alysa Liu fronts the campaign. She is joined by sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson, boxer Moses Itauma, footballers Lauren James and Reece James, basketball player Jazzy Davidson, K-pop performer Karina, and rapper Yeat — a roster that spans sport and entertainment across several continents.

Nike is also rolling out a men's counterpart called Solo Fleece: a medium-weight hoodie with a brushed-back body, a slightly cropped and boxier fit, a self-lined darted hood, and a 3D-embroidered Swoosh.

What makes Studio Fleece stand out is the scale of the consumer research behind it. Three hundred-plus women is a large sample for a single apparel line, and the product details — the wash-count target on the black dye, the five-time sueding process, the three weight grades — read like a manufacturer responding to specific complaints rather than chasing a seasonal look.

The launch sits in a busy stretch for Nike. The brand's newsroom lists four press releases between 16 and 27 July 2026, covering a partnership with the Mexican football club Chivas de Guadalajara, a Kobe x FC Barcelona kit, new NIL (name, image and likeness) football signings, and a recovery slide developed with Hyperice (Nike Newsroom). Studio Fleece is also reaching younger buyers: the lightweight French Terry version is sold in Big Kids' sizing and appears in Nike's back-to-school recommendations, which were updated on 20 July 2026 (Nike.com).
