Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos Remaster Announced for Q4 2026

Argonaut Games has announced a remaster of Croc 2, officially titled Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, targeting a Q4 2026 release across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC. The news arrives on July 30, 2026 — roughly nine months after the first game's remaster, Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, reached players in October 2025.

The original Croc 2 shipped in 1999 on PlayStation and Windows, a 3D platformer — a genre built on running, jumping and exploring open levels — in which the titular crocodile searches for his long-lost parents on the mainland while fending off a revived villain named Baron Dante. The remaster will feature more than 40 levels across four distinct villages, with Gobbos to rescue and a cast of Guardian enemies to overcome. Players can expect gameplay mechanics beyond standard platforming: triple jumps, car racing, speedboat racing, minecart riding, and flying.

Argonaut founder Jez San said in a statement that Croc 2 was always the plan once fans embraced the first remaster. Co-CEO Mike Arkin added that the first game's return exceeded expectations, making the decision to remaster the sequel straightforward.

One wrinkle: the original Croc 2 ran on a different engine than the first Croc game, which poses distinct remastering challenges — meaning this is not a simple copy-and-polish job but a separate technical effort.

For fans, the standout addition may be the "Croc2pedia," an in-game digital museum featuring unseen development materials, cut content, and developer interviews. It is the kind of behind-the-scenes package that turns a remaster from a visual touch-up into a preservation project.

Argonaut's plans don't stop at the sequel. The studio also intends to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Croc 2 on Game Boy Color in 2026, according to the company's official website. The first remaster's FAQ had previously noted that a Croc 2 remaster was conditional on Legend of the Gobbos selling well — a condition that has evidently been met.

The first Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster was announced in 2024, delayed, and ultimately released in October 2025. Whether the Q4 2026 window for the sequel holds firm or shifts in production remains, as ever, a matter of the development calendar rather than drama. For now, the crocodile's second adventure has a date to aim for and five platforms lined up to receive it.
