PNAU released their seventh studio album, AHHCade, on July 31 via Sydney-based indie label etcetc, part of the TMRW Music group (Billboard). The same day, one of its singles, "Serotonin" featuring Kurtis Wells, arrived alongside the full record.

The album leans into darker dance sounds, according to Rolling Stone Australia's editorial coverage, and draws thematic inspiration from video game arcades. Its tracklist includes "Tu Corazon (Your Heart)" with Mexican rock trio The Warning, "Nirvana" with EARTHGANG and sadMONTH, "Chemistry," and "Serotonin."

PNAU are Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes, who met in high school. They formed in Sydney in the mid-1990s; their 1999 debut Sambanova won an ARIA Award — Australia's flagship music prize — for best dance release. Littlemore is also one half of Empire of the Sun, the electronic duo behind the 2008 hit "Walking on a Dream."

PNAU's profile expanded sharply through collaborations with Elton John. Their 2012 remix album Good Morning to the Night reached No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart, and the 2021 remix "Cold Heart" with Dua Lipa became a global hit. Rolling Stone Australia describes the duo as "Australian-born, US-based."

One day before the album's release, Littlemore revealed in a Rolling Stone Australia interview that he is set to retire from live performances, timed to the AHHCade rollout. The article, published July 30, carries the headline "'This Might Be the Last Time': Nick Littlemore Set to Retire From Live Performances as PNAU Drop New Album 'AHHCade'" (Rolling Stone Australia).

In a feature interview with The Music published June 25, Littlemore discussed imposter syndrome, LSD, and his creative process. The Music also launched its first limited-edition vinyl variant for AHHCade, marking the outlet's entry into physical music retail.

PNAU have planned a national tour in support of the album, starting September 19 in Brisbane. The band's official website lists a show called "Night At The Parkland" in Brisbane City that day at 5:30 p.m., followed by "Night at the Barracks" in Manly on September 25 at 5:30 p.m.

For fans, the tour may carry an extra charge: if Littlemore follows through on retirement, these dates could be among the last chances to see one half of PNAU on stage.
