The Avalanches announced on Thursday, August 6 that their fourth studio album, No Bad Memories, will be released on October 16 via Modular Recordings. The album spans 31 tracks and arrives as the Australian group's first full-length since 2020's We Will Always Love You, according to Billboard.

Alongside the announcement, the band released a new single, "Can't Get Over Losing You," featuring vocals from Louisiana-born artist and producer Portraits of Tracy. It is the fourth single pulled from the album ahead of release, following "Together" (with Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza and Prentiss), "Every Single Weekend" (with Jamie xx) and "Blue Shadows" (with Karen O).

The album's thematic centre, per Billboard's reporting, is the way advertising and brand-name technology attach themselves to personal memory — sometimes with a kind of magic, sometimes with something more insidious. It is territory the group has touched before: their landmark 2000 debut, Since I Left You, was built almost entirely from samples, stitching thousands of fragments into a collage that still gets cited as a turning point for sample-based music.

For listeners, the 31-song count signals an expansive record rather than a tight one. The Avalanches have never worked small — their debut famously used an estimated 3,500 samples — but No Bad Memories represents their longest tracklist to date across a studio album.

Physical editions are already live. The band's official store lists an exclusive limited-edition "Trio (RGB)" double LP, with a signed variant priced at $42.98, available for pre-order. The official website also offers a "Takumi" pre-order and pre-save option, and the group confirmed pre-order availability via their Instagram account.

The announcement caps a relatively quiet stretch for the project. We Will Always Love You, their third album, was released in December 2020. Since then, the most notable catalogue movement was a 20th-anniversary deluxe reissue of Since I Left You through Astralwerks, which arrived on June 4, 2021, as reported by uDiscover Music.

With four singles already out and an October 16 date on the calendar, the rollout for No Bad Memories is well underway.
