Broken Lizard are back. Super Troopers 3: Farva's Wedding, the third outing for the Vermont highway-patrol comedy troupe, arrives in US cinemas on Friday, August 7, 2026, distributed by Searchlight Pictures (Deadline).

Jay Chandrasekhar directs and reprises his role as Trooper Thorny, one of the five core members of Broken Lizard — the comedy group that also includes Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, all returning here. The screenplay is credited to the troupe collectively. The film carries an R rating and runs 1 hour 44 minutes (The Hollywood Reporter).

The onscreen subtitle says it all: Farva's Wedding. The plot centres on Farva — the chaos-prone officer played by Heffernan — whose over-the-top Indian engagement to Thorny's sister Sarita spirals out of control after he rescues her from a burning car. Sarita is played by Hannah Simone. The rest of the troopers must then navigate Thorny's schemes to break up the engagement, as the official trailer lays out (Searchlight Pictures YouTube).

The cast expands well beyond the core five. Nat Faxon, Chace Crawford and Andrew Dismukes join the ensemble. Marisa Coughlan returns as Ursula, a friendly cop. Brian Cox reprises his role as Captain O'Hagan, now retired but still lingering around police headquarters — a detail that should land well for fans of the 2001 original, released 25 years before this third instalment (The Hollywood Reporter).

The franchise has covered some ground since then. Super Troopers 2 arrived in 2018, with The Hollywood Reporter describing it at the time as a loose, goofy string of antics (The Hollywood Reporter, 2018). Searchlight — the Disney-owned label known for arthouse and specialty releases — picked up distribution duties for the third film, a notable shift for a property that began as an indie comedy (Deadline).

An official trailer debuted on YouTube in May 2026, released in 4K on the Searchlight Pictures channel (YouTube). Ahead of the wide release, Broken Lizard are hosting special fan-event Q&A screenings starting August 6, running through September 6 (Fandango).

For a series built on pratfalls and highway-patrol absurdity, the road to a third film has been steady rather than spectacular. But with a wide release on a Searchlight slate and an ensemble that brings back the original troupe alongside Brian Cox, Super Troopers 3 is getting a bigger platform than its predecessors ever did.
