Ubisoft has launched a Ghost Recon Insider Program, giving players a path into closed tests for the next entry in the military shooter series. The announcement came during the franchise's 25th anniversary presentation on 6 August 2026 (VGC).

The program is open for registration now at register.ubisoft.com/ghost-recon-insider-program/en-GB. Those who sign up get early access to closed tests — small-scale, invite-only play sessions that let developers gather feedback before a game is finished. Ubisoft senior community developer Pierre Vincent said player input would help balance, optimise and fine-tune the experience, according to the same presentation.

Live producer Irina-Gabriela Popa told viewers that the team has been building the next chapter of Ghost Recon and is now ready to put it to the test. The wording echoes what CEO Yves Guillemot told shareholders the previous year, when he first mentioned that a new Ghost Recon was in development.

For fans, this is the most concrete step yet toward a new entry. The series has been quiet since Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the 2019 instalment that underperformed for Ubisoft both commercially and critically. A planned live-service spin-off, Ghost Recon Frontline — a game designed to be updated in seasons after launch, rather than sold as a finished product — was cancelled before it shipped.

That history gives the Insider Program a practical edge. Ubisoft has used a similar model for other titles: its Skull and Bones patch notes cite feedback from an Insider Program as one input for balance changes, and the publisher operates a broader playtest portal at playtest.ubisoft.com where volunteers can help test games during development. The Ghost Recon version appears to be a more focused channel for a franchise that badly needs a strong return.

The 6 August presentation fulfilled a promise Ubisoft made through the official Ghost Recon social account in July, when it said an announcement was coming to mark the anniversary. Information about a Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition also surfaced around the same time, suggesting Ubisoft is looking across the franchise's back catalogue as well as forward.

No release date, title, or platform details for the new Ghost Recon have been announced. What players get for now is a sign-up page and the promise of a seat in the testing queue — a chance to play early and, in Ubisoft's words, help shape the game before it ships.
