The Splinter Cell remake is still alive.

Ubisoft Toronto's rebuild of the stealth series remains in active development, almost five years after it was announced in 2021. The latest evidence comes from hiring, with fresh posts appearing in late September 2026.

Ubisoft has advertised at least three roles for the project in the past few months, with two going live in the last two weeks alone, according to Insider Gaming. That report, published on 30 September 2026, treats the listings as a sign that work is continuing. It is a short update. No new footage. No date.

The project has been based at Ubisoft Toronto since the start. When Ubisoft announced the remake in December 2021, the company said it was hiring across technical leadership and all job families, as set out by Ubisoft. A remake, in industry terms, is a from-the-ground-up rebuild of an older game rather than a simple re-release.

That hiring never really stopped. Ubisoft Toronto lists current Splinter Cell remake openings including a Production Producer and a Game and Level Design Team Lead for level design. Earlier hiring included a scriptwriter post on the Ubisoft Careers website. Named staff on the project include Zavian Porter, Associate Level Design Director, and Roger Liu, a Level Artist whose work at the studio stretches back more than 10 years to Splinter Cell Blacklist.

Leadership has changed along the way. Ubisoft advertised for a Game Director for the remake in a listing that has since been taken down. Then, in December 2025, David Grivel announced he was rejoining Ubisoft Toronto as Game Director on the remake, according to Insider Gaming. His return late last year was framed around helping to finalise the game.

For fans, this means the wait goes on, but the signals point one way. The team is still being built. The director is back in place. And the studio is still hiring.
