Ne-Yo is facing a lawsuit from a delivery worker who says his dog bit her while she was dropping off a package at his home in Alpharetta, Georgia, in July 2025.

The suit was filed on behalf of Dominique Bridgett, who states she was lawfully delivering a package to the singer's residence when a dog on the property attacked her, causing serious injuries. According to the complaint, the dog bit her on the leg. TMZ first reported the case on 6 August 2026, with Billboard confirming the details the same day.

The lawsuit was filed in late June in Fulton County Court. Bridgett accuses Ne-Yo — whose legal name is Shaffer Chimere Smith — of negligence, claiming he knew or should have known the dog was vicious or dangerous but failed to maintain proper control over it.

Bridgett says she has already paid more than $9,000 in medical bills as a result of the alleged attack. The lawsuit, as reported by TMZ, describes the dog as having "viciously attacked" her while she tried to drop off the package.

Ne-Yo has not publicly responded to the allegations, according to the Billboard report. The case remains in its early stages, and no court findings have been made. The claims are allegations in a civil complaint, not established facts — Bridgett's account will be tested through the legal process.

For now, the suit raises a straightforward question of premises liability — the legal principle that a property owner can be held responsible for injuries caused by conditions on their land, including by animals they keep. Whether Ne-Yo knew the dog posed a danger, and whether he took reasonable steps to control it, will be the matters the court weighs.

Ne-Yo, 46, is a three-time Grammy-winning singer and songwriter whose credits include his own hits such as "So Sick" and "Miss Independent" as well as songs written for Beyoncé, Rihanna and others. He has not released a statement on the lawsuit.
