R&B singer Ne-Yo has been sued for negligence by a delivery driver who says his dog attacked her while she was dropping off a package at his Georgia home.

Dominique Bridgett filed the lawsuit in Fulton County, Georgia, alleging that Ne-Yo's dog lunged at and bit her leg on or around July 12, 2025, as she attempted to deliver a package to his property in Alpharetta, outside Atlanta. The seven-page complaint, obtained by Rolling Stone, seeks a jury trial.

Bridgett claims Ne-Yo, whose legal name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, knew the dog had a history of aggressive behaviour but failed to restrain it as required by local leash and animal control laws. She says she spent $9,039.50 on medical treatment for her injuries and is seeking damages including future pain and suffering and lost capacity for enjoyment of life — a legal category covering the ongoing impact of an injury on a person's daily life and wellbeing.

TMZ, The Shade Room, and Foxy 99 all published corroborating coverage of the lawsuit on August 6, 2026. TMZ reported the filing the same day Rolling Stone published its account. The Shade Room noted that the lawsuit alleges Bridgett was severely injured during the delivery, while Foxy 99 reported the July 2025 date of the alleged incident.

The case draws an unintentional parallel to another musician's legal trouble over a dog. In June, a jury awarded Maria Avila $13 million in damages for a dog mauling at Chris Brown's Los Angeles home in 2020. That verdict came after Avila, also a visitor to the property, suffered severe injuries in the attack.

Neither Ne-Yo nor his representatives have publicly responded to the lawsuit as of August 6, 2026. The allegations remain civil claims, not criminal charges, and have not been tested in court.
