Blue Finch Films has acquired international sales rights — everywhere outside North America — for Drag, a heist-thriller comedy produced by Danny DeVito alongside his children Lucy and Jake DeVito, with a UK sales launch planned for the Toronto Film Festival market this September (Variety).

The film marks the first independent feature from Jersey Films 2nd Avenue, the DeVito-founded production banner whose previous credits include the FXX animated series Little Demon and the Prime Video sports docuseries Game 7. Directed by Greg Yagolnitzer and Raviv Ullman, Drag stars Lizzy Caplan, Lucy DeVito, John Stamos and Christine Ko.

The plot follows two sisters with a strained relationship who target a house in rural upstate New York for a burglary. The heist goes wrong when one sister injures her back and becomes trapped on the second floor — a premise the film's own website markets as "a comedy-thriller about two burglars whose simple heist goes hilariously wrong" (drag-the-movie.com). The Fantasia International Film Festival's 30th-edition program has described it as "a twisted dark comedy from producer Danny DeVito" (Fantasia Festival).

Drag premiered at SXSW 2026 and has since screened at BiFan, Fantasia and Tubi FrightFest London, building a genre-festival run ahead of its commercial release. Briarcliff Entertainment holds North American distribution rights and has scheduled the US theatrical release for 29 January 2027.

The international sales pickup by Blue Finch — a UK-based sales and distribution company — fills the remaining worldwide puzzle. North America is set; the rest of the world is now Blue Finch's to sell at Toronto, where buyers from territories across Europe, Asia, Latin America and Australasia will get their first market screenings. Blue Finch's Toronto slate also includes the Midnight Madness selection Kick On, the Fantasia titles Attack On Paradise and Unholy Night, and Mission, backed by BBC Film and Screen Scotland, starring George MacKay.

For the DeVito family, Drag extends a producing collaboration that moved from television into independent features. For genre fans, it adds a festival-circuit title with a theatrical date already on the calendar — and a sales company with a strong genre pedigree pushing it to the rest of the world.
