A documentary about the decades-long push for the first reversible male contraceptive will open theatrically across North America in September 2026, Variety reported exclusively on 7 August.

Coast to Coast Films, in association with Sandbox Films and ITVS, will release Give It a Shot — directed and produced by Vaishali Sinha, whose previous credits include Made in India and Ask the Sexpert — into cinemas before it arrives on PBS's Independent Lens in 2027. The film follows 83-year-old Indian researcher Dr. Sujoy Guha and a U.S.-based development team working to launch the first reversible male contraceptive since the modern condom was invented roughly 200 years ago. Guha's work in India is tracked alongside California-based team members Elaine Lissner and L.R. Fox, and Kevin Eisenfrats in Virginia. According to the film, the Guttmacher Institute counts just three contraceptive methods available to men — condoms, vasectomy and withdrawal — versus roughly five times as many options for women. The rollout begins 4 September 2026 at DCTV in New York. Sneak-peek screenings in Los Angeles follow on 14–16 September, with a full Los Angeles opening at Laemmle Theatres on 18 September.
