Prime Video Sets Global Launch for Indian Investigative Drama 'Babita Singh Reporting'
Prime Video will release the Indian investigative drama Babita Singh Reporting — officially titled A.S.I. Babita Singh Reporting! — globally on August 28, 2026, the platform confirmed on 17 August (Deadline).
The film centres on Babita, an Assistant Sub-Inspector — a junior rank in India's police hierarchy — who is suspended from duty and widely underestimated by her colleagues. Known to those close to her as Baby, she is a people-pleasing cop navigating a small Indian town. The story kicks into gear when Babita visits her in-laws' home for the first time and begins investigating the murder of a childhood friend, torn between what she uncovers and her official obligations (Deadline, August 2026; Deadline, March 2026).
Nimisha Sajayan leads the cast, with Barun Sobti and Anshumaan Pushkar in supporting roles. Ambiecka Pandit directs from a screenplay by Amita Vyas. The project is a Prime Video Original — meaning the platform commissioned and owns the title outright — produced by Saurabh Malhotra, Manuj Mittra and Tina Tharwani through Film Squad Productions in association with Act Three (Deadline, August 2026).
Sudip Sharma serves as executive producer. Sharma previously produced two seasons of Paatal Lok, the Prime Video crime drama that ran from 2020 to 2025, giving him a track record with the platform's Indian-language scripted output (Deadline, August 2026).
Prime Video first unveiled the title in March 2026 as part of a broader India slate presentation aimed at global viewers, releasing an official first look across its social channels (Facebook, 19 March 2026; YouTube, 19 March 2026).
