Sadie Sink says she is being kept "a little bit separate" from the casting process for Cyclops in Marvel Studios' upcoming X-Men reboot — but the role of Scott Summers has already been filled. Kit Connor, known for the film Warfare, has been cast as Cyclops, the field leader of the X-Men, Deadline and IGN reported on 6 August 2026.

Sink's comments, published by Deadline on 7 August 2026, came with a fuller picture of her own schedule. She said she will shoot the X-Men film and then move on to a television series with FX and A24 called The Marriage Plot next year. The X-Men reboot is being directed by Jake Schreier.

Deadline had previously reported that Connor read for the role of Cyclops. The casting now puts him opposite Sink, whose character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day was confirmed as a mutant with telekinetic and telepathic abilities — the signature powers of Jean Grey. Variety reported on 30 July 2026 that Sink is playing Jean Grey in the Spider-Man film, a move that could set up a crossover with the X-Men reboot.

In the Marvel comics, Jean Grey and Scott Summers are longtime romantic partners and core members of the X-Men. Sink and Connor stepping into those roles gives the reboot its central pairing.

The Spider-Man: Brand New Day ensemble is substantial. Alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, the cast includes Sink, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Batalon, Deadline reported on 20 July 2026. The first trailer, released in March, showed Holland as Spider-Man and Zendaya as MJ, with Sink joining in an undisclosed role. Liza Colón-Zayas has also joined the cast in an undisclosed role. The film is scheduled for a 31 July premiere.

Sink's path to the role had an unusual wrinkle. She said she found out about her Spider-Man casting through online speculation rather than an official call, Deadline reported in January 2026.

The X-Men reboot has been building its cast across the summer. Deadline previously reported that Samara Weaving was offered the role of Emma Frost. With Connor as Cyclops, Sink as Jean Grey and Weaving potentially as Emma Frost, Schreier's film is assembling a roster drawn from some of the most recognised characters in the X-Men catalogue.

For fans, the pieces are starting to connect. Sink's Jean Grey will debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day before she and Connor's Cyclops presumably share the screen in the X-Men film — a pipeline that mirrors Marvel's broader strategy of introducing characters in one project before spinning them into their own.
