Set Decorators Society of America Names 2026 TV Award Winners: 'Widow's Bay,' 'Fallout,' 'Wednesday' Among Honourees
The Set Decorators Society of America has announced its 2026 television award winners, recognising the people who build the worlds audiences see on screen — the furniture on a detective's desk, the wallpaper in a haunted hallway, the clutter that makes a fictional room feel lived-in. Shows released between 1 June 2025 and 31 May 2026 were eligible across nine categories. Variety published the full list on 10 August 2026.
'Widow's Bay' took the award for best decor and design of a one-hour contemporary series. Set decorator Jennifer Engel and production designer Steve Arnold — the team responsible for dressing the Apple TV+ drama's sets — received the honour. The SDSA's own eligible productions list, published in May 2026, had confirmed Engel's credit on the series ahead of the nominations.
'Fallout' and 'Wednesday' tied in the one-hour fantasy or science fiction category, a rare shared win. Julie Ochipinti (set decorator) and Howard Cummings (production designer) were recognised for 'Fallout,' while David Morison and Neville Gaynor (set decorators) shared the award with production designers Mark Scruton and Philip Murphy for 'Wednesday.'
The period series category went to 'Palm Royale,' and 'Beef' won for television movie or limited series. In the half-hour categories, 'Hacks' won for single-camera series and 'Happy's Place' for multi-camera series — the difference being whether a show is filmed with one camera moving through a scene or several cameras capturing it simultaneously, a distinction that shapes how sets are decorated for different shooting angles.
'The Bold and the Beautiful' won the daytime series award, and 'The Muppet Show' took the variety, reality or competition category. Offset and John Legend's music video 'Never Let Go' won in the web series, music video or commercial slot.
The nominations, announced on 5 June 2026, had been led by 'Euphoria,' 'Wednesday,' and 'Hacks' with the most nods, according to Gold Derby. Deadline also covered the nominations round in June. Among the nominated shows that did not convert to wins were 'Euphoria,' 'The Morning Show,' 'Stranger Things,' 'Bridgerton,' 'Outlander,' 'For All Mankind,' 'The Boys,' 'Spider-Noir,' 'Saturday Night Live,' and 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'
The SDSA had stated on its website that winners would be announced on 9 August via the SETDECOR YouTube channel. The organisation's awards celebrate set decoration — the art of filling a constructed or location set with the objects, furniture and dressing that sell a scene's time, place and mood to a viewer.
Separately, the SDSA announced its 2026 Honors, recognising set decorator Cynthia McCormac and SDSA business member Robert Greenfield for career contributions. The society has also been publishing behind-the-scenes features on its website throughout 2026, spotlighting set decorators working on series including 'Matlock,' 'DTF St. Louis,' 'The Madison,' and 'The Night Agent,' as well as films like 'Sinners' and 'Hamnet.'
For fans of these shows, the awards are a reminder that every bookshelf, bar top and bedside lamp on screen was placed there by someone whose name rarely rolls in the credits — and this is the night their trade says it noticed.
