Australia is building a 33-foot steel vault in Tasmania designed to preserve a complete record of humanity's climate data — the measurements, emissions, and policy decisions of our era — for an uncertain future. Its purpose is straightforward: to give future investigators a clear, factual record of how humanity responded to the climate crisis.
What makes this vault unusual is that it records in both directions. It preserves historical data from before its construction, alongside live information being added continuously.
