Obsession's Nikki Joins Halloween Horror Nights — Alongside Art the Clown
Nikki, the cursed character from the horror hit Obsession, will appear as a walk-around character at Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights 2026 — a meet-and-greet addition that landed late in the planning process, according to the event's own creative director.
John Murdy, creative director and executive producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, announced the addition during a panel at MidsummerScream, a fan convention for horror and theme-park attractions. Nikki was slotted into the event very late in the planning cycle, Murdy said. Universal's own press materials describe the character as "the latest victim of the One Wish Willow's terrifying curse" (Attractions Magazine).
For anyone who has not seen Obsession, the setup is simple and nasty. Nikki, played by Inde Navarrette, is cursed after a friend-zoned co-worker uses a "One Wish Willow" to wish that she would love him more than anybody else in the world. The wish warps into an obsession that turns lethal. The film was written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Curry Barker, and it became one of the year's most improbable success stories: roughly $475 million in global grosses on a production budget of about $750,000, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Nikki will not be alone. Art the Clown, the grinning slasher from the Terrifier franchise, is also joining Halloween Horror Nights 2026 at Universal, per Yahoo Entertainment. Both characters will roam the park as part of the after-hours event, which runs select nights beginning Aug. 28 at Universal Orlando and Sept. 3 at Universal Studios Hollywood.
What makes Nikki's addition stand out is the speed of it. Theme-park characters are typically planned months in advance — costume fabrication, performer training, crowd-flow logistics all have to lock in early. Murdy's comment that Nikki was added very late suggests Universal moved fast to capitalise on a film that went from a micro-budget debut to a global phenomenon in a matter of months. For fans of Obsession, it means one of the year's breakout horror characters steps off the screen and into the park before the summer is even over.
