Love Island USA Finalists Aniya Harvey and Melanie Moreno Post 'Tryout' Video to Join KATSEYE

Two Love Island USA season 8 finalists have put themselves forward — jokingly — for a spot in the girl group KATSEYE. Aniya Harvey and Melanie Moreno posted a video captioned "Our tryout to be new members of katseye!!!" in which they performed choreography from KATSEYE's song "Gnarly." Billboard reported the post on 10 August 2026.
Harvey and Moreno competed on Love Island USA season 8, which wrapped in July after six weeks filmed in Fiji. Harvey and her partner Carl Schmidt finished as runners-up. Moreno and Sincere Rhea took third place.
KATSEYE is a six-member girl group formed through Dream Academy, a competition run jointly by HYBE — the South Korean entertainment company behind BTS — and Geffen Records, part of Universal Music Group. The group debuted in 2024 and released "Gnarly" as a single.
The timing of the video draws on a real gap in KATSEYE's lineup. Member Manon announced a hiatus from the group in February. In early August, member Sophia also announced she was taking a hiatus, leaving the group short of its full complement.
Whether Harvey and Moreno expected a callback is beside the point. The video reads as fan behaviour from two people who spent the summer on camera and know their way around a performance moment — and who picked a group currently missing two of its members.
For KATSEYE fans, the clip lands in a stretch where the group's roster has been in flux. Both hiatuses were announced by the members themselves, and no timelines for their return have been given. Harvey and Moreno are not in line to replace anyone. But the video has drawn attention to the fact that KATSEYE is currently operating with fewer than its full six members, and that the group's next moves — whether new music, a comeback schedule, or further lineup updates — have not yet been announced.
