Netflix's 'The Last House' Opens with 27.5 Million Views, Tops Weekly Charts

Netflix's thriller The Last House, starring Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, pulled in 27.5 million views in its first three days of streaming — enough to make it both the No. 1 English-language film and the most-watched title overall on the platform for the week of Aug. 3–9, 2026 (Variety).
The rest of the English-language films chart tells its own story. Kevin Hart's comedy 72 Hours held strong in its third week, adding 11.1 million views to land behind The Last House. Right behind it sat two Marvel titles — Spider-Man: Far from Home and Spider-Man: Homecoming — benefiting from a Spider-Man moment of sorts: Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrived in theatres on July 31, 2026, and the streaming interest in the earlier films followed (Variety).
On the TV side, the true-crime series The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare held the No. 1 spot for a second consecutive week with 10.6 million views, down from its debut of 18.2 million the week before. Season 3 of My Life With the Walter Boys premiered right behind it, drawing 9 million views in its first four days. The Bombing of Pan Am 103 sat in third place on the TV chart for the second week running (Variety).
These figures are Netflix's own hours-viewed measurements, converted to a "views" metric — total hours watched divided by a title's runtime — which the platform reports weekly in its global Top 10. A "view," in plain terms, means one account watched enough minutes to count as a full run of the film or episode, based on that division.
For the cast and crews behind these titles, a chart-topping debut matters beyond bragging rights. Strong opening numbers on a streaming platform can shape what happens next: whether a one-off film gets a follow-up, whether a series earns another season, and whether a writers' room gets reassembled. For The Last House, 27.5 million views in three days puts it firmly in the conversation.
