Adam Rosenberg Named Head of Film at Brian Robbins' Big Shot Pictures
Adam Rosenberg has been appointed head of film at Big Shot Pictures, the production company founded by Brian Robbins, according to Variety.
Rosenberg will oversee feature film development and production at the company, which operates under a multi-year deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment. He arrives with a deep studio résumé: ten years as co-president of production at MGM, where he executive produced Creed III and oversaw production on Candyman, Respect and The Magnificent Seven. Earlier credits include a stint as senior vice president at Spyglass and a start in the industry as an assistant to producer Scott Rudin.
Most recently, Rosenberg co-founded Modern Magic alongside Rodney Rothman, the writer-director who worked on the Spider-Verse films. The pair launched the company in July 2021 with a focus on event animation and live-action entertainment, as reported by Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter. Through Modern Magic, Rosenberg produced the animated film Goat for Sony Pictures Animation.
Big Shot Pictures has been building a portfolio of well-known properties. The company recently acquired the Eloise franchise and took a $25 million stake in Alvin and the Chipmunks through a joint venture with Bagdasarian Productions, per Variety. On the television side, Big Shot is in pre-production on an anime series written and produced by One Piece showrunner Matt Owens.
According to the company's website, that anime project is being developed with the streamer IShowSpeed, who has over 50 million YouTube subscribers. Harmony Korine is attached as a producer on the series. (The company site does not carry a publication date for those details.)
Rosenberg's mandate covers the feature slate — the films that will flow through Big Shot's Sony partnership. The company's mix of legacy franchises and creator-driven projects gives him a wide bench to draw from.
