Becky G has dismissed any suggestion of a rivalry with Karol G, telling CBS Mornings anchor Gayle King that the two Latin pop stars are "absolutely not" competitors. Her full interview with King is set to air at 7 a.m. on Thursday, August 13. Billboard

Speaking about her relationship with the Colombian singer, Becky G described it as "a beautiful friendship" that the two have earned over the years. When King pressed on who she sees as her real competition, Becky G pointed inward: "the person I look at in the mirror every morning."

The timing is no accident. Becky G is currently one of the opening acts on Karol G's Viajando por el Mundo Tropitour, the stadium trek that kicked off on July 24. She played her first opening show on July 29 at Toronto's Rogers Stadium, and her final night in the support slot is set for September 18 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Elena Rose and Greeicy have also opened for select dates on the tour, which takes its name from Karol G's latest album.

The two artists share a chart history. Becky G and Karol G released the collaborative single "MAMIII" in 2022, which reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart — the publication's weekly ranking of the most popular Latin tracks across streaming, radio and sales — on the chart dated February 26, 2022. Karol G was later named Billboard's Woman of the Year in 2024.

For fans, the CBS interview puts a public frame on a working relationship that has been visible on stage all summer. Two artists who could be positioned as rivals — both women, both Latin pop, both chart-toppers — are instead sharing a bill, with one opening for the other.

The Tropitour continues through September.
