Peacock Drops Season 2 Trailer for The Paper: Ned Sampson Is Back on the Hunt

Peacock has released the Season 2 trailer for The Paper, the mockumentary comedy that follows the documentary crew who once filmed the Dunder Mifflin paper company — the fictional workplace at the heart of The Office. The full second season arrives on Peacock on September 9, 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter. (Peacock's official YouTube trailer, posted the same day, lists a September 4 date.)
The trailer picks up shortly after the events of Season 1, which saw the Toledo Truth Teller — the small Ohio newspaper at the centre of the series — win state journalism awards, while lead characters Ned and Mare shared their first kiss. Now Ned is searching for a journalistic crusade. According to the Season 2 logline, he takes aim at a local private club and puts the paper at risk in the process. Meanwhile, he and Mare try to make sense of their attraction, colleague Esmeralda struggles to find her place on the team, and the staff gradually grow into their roles as reporters.
The trailer also teases a possible tornado that sends staffers Adelola and Travis on an ill-advised storm chase — a subplot that hints at the blend of workplace comedy and absurd situational humour that defined the show's first season.
The ensemble is led by Domhnall Gleeson as Ned Sampson and Chelsea Frei as Mare Pritti. They are joined by Ramona Young as Nicole, Gbemisola Ikumelo as Adelola, Eric Rahill as Travis, Sabrina Impacciatore as Esmeralda, Melvin Gregg, Tim Key, Duane Shepard Sr., Alex Edelman and Oscar Nuñez. Guest roles this season include Allan Havey, Jon Lovitz, Andy Richter, Lisa Gilroy, Matt Braunger, Toks Olagundoye and Phil Hendrie.
Behind the camera, Greg Daniels and Michael Koman co-created the series and serve as showrunners — the writers who oversee all creative decisions on a television production. They executive produce alongside Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas. Daniels, of course, was the adapter who brought The Office to American television, and Gervais and Merchant created the original British version.
Peacock ordered a second season one day before all ten episodes of Season 1 were released — a straight-to-series renewal, meaning the platform committed to more without waiting to measure the first run's performance, as Peacock's official blog reported at the time. The September 9 premiere date itself was first announced via a teaser that featured Ned typing out the date on screen, according to Peacock's blog.
For viewers who came to The Paper through its connection to The Office, Season 2 promises more of the same DNA: a documentary crew watching ordinary people do extraordinary things in a workplace that nobody outside Toledo would otherwise notice. The question this time is whether Ned's crusade brings the paper glory — or brings it down.
