Wizkid Named First Headliner of Detty December Fest 2026 as Festival Adds Second Stage
Wizkid will open Detty December Fest 2026 on December 18, becoming the first confirmed headliner of the 13-day festival in Lagos, according to Billboard.
The festival runs 18–30 December across two venues: Ilubirin in the Ikoyi district and the Livespot Entertarium. Wizkid tops the bill on the flagship Festival Stage, while a newly added second platform — the Pulse Stage — will be dedicated to emerging artists and next-generation sounds. Livespot360, the production company behind the festival, previously brought Cardi B to Nigeria and Ghana for her first performances in both countries.
Darey Art Alade, Livespot's co-founder and chief creative officer, told Billboard the Pulse Stage was introduced specifically to give rising artists a platform alongside established headliners. Additional headliners will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets are already on sale at dettydecfest.com.
Detty December Fest launched as an official festival in 2025, drawing more than 40,000 attendees with a lineup that included Busta Rhymes, Gunna, Shenseea, Tiwa Savage, Diamond Platnumz and Wizkid himself. That edition produced a memorable moment when Wizkid made a surprise appearance during Gunna's set to perform their collaboration 'Forever Be Mine' live together for the first time (BellaNaija).
The festival sits at the centre of a much broader economic phenomenon. Detty December — the Lagos tradition that turns the city into a nonstop stretch of concerts, parties and cultural events each December — generated an estimated 396.5 billion Nigerian naira in consumer spending across Lagos, according to the MO Africa Company Detty December Report cited by Billboard. Nigeria's Federal Executive Council has since established a presidential task force on Detty December to coordinate inter-agency support and strengthen tourism during the festive season.
For Wizkid, the booking caps a busy stretch. His 2024 album Morayo reached No. 4 on the Billboard World Albums chart — which ranks the top-selling international titles in the US market — and he spent most of 2025 touring behind it. His collaboration 'Ginmme Dat' with Ayra Starr earned a nomination for best African music performance at the 2026 Grammys. Made in Lagos, the 2020 album that cemented his global profile, turned six the same month the headlining announcement landed.
For fans, the draw is straightforward: a 13-day festival in Lagos with Wizkid opening and a new stage for artists they may not have heard yet. More names are coming.
