Stephen Lang and Mark McKenna Lead Thriller 'Isolation Booth,' Wrapped in Minnesota
Stephen Lang and Mark McKenna are among the cast of "Isolation Booth," a thriller that has just wrapped filming in Minnesota, according to Deadline.
The film follows a once-celebrated songwriter battling addiction who retreats to a secluded recording studio for one last shot at relevance. Lang, known to wide audiences for his commanding turn in the "Avatar" films, and McKenna, whose credits include "Sing Street" and "One of Us Is Lying," lead an ensemble that also includes Cory Jeacoma, Micah Joe Parker, Isa Grofsorean, and Meghan Kreidler.
John Beckham directs, making his feature debut after working in shorter forms. The producers are Audra Arnaudon, Erica Margaux Baca, and Beckham himself, through two companies: Shifted Industry and Witchcraft Motion Picture Company. Sam Brin and George Pelecanos — a writer-producer whose credits include HBO's "The Wire" — serve as executive producers, alongside Noah Lang, who held that role for Witchcraft.
The production shot on location at Pachyderm Recording Studio in Minnesota. The studio is a real-world facility with a deep music history: Nirvana, PJ Harvey, and the Jayhawks all recorded albums there. Setting a thriller about a songwriter inside an actual recording studio gives the project a built-in authenticity that soundstage work would struggle to match.
Behind the scenes, the project is also a small study in how independent films come together. Two production companies split the duties. A first-time feature director gets backing from experienced television hands. And the financing structure — multiple executive producers across separate companies — is the kind of patchwork that lets smaller films reach screens without a major studio's balance sheet.

A festival premiere serves as both a launchpad for critical attention and a marketplace where distributors acquire finished films for theatrical or streaming release.
