Emile Hirsch Joins Sci-Fi Thriller 'Final Invasion' Opposite Anthony Michael Hall and Stephen Lang
Emile Hirsch has joined the cast of Final Invasion, a sci-fi action thriller set to shoot in New Mexico later this year, opposite Anthony Michael Hall, Claire Forlani, and Stephen Lang, according to Deadline.
The film begins when a mysterious UAP — an unidentified aerial phenomenon, the term now broadly used in place of "UFO" — crashes in the New Mexico desert. The wreckage unleashes a rapidly mutating extraterrestrial organism that infects all life on Earth, triggering an extinction-level event.
Josh Sternfeld, whose credits include Fortress: Sniper's Eye, is directing. The screenplay comes from Patricia A. Beninati, Michael K. Anderson, and Jeff Knight. Beninati produces through Centerboro Productions alongside Todd Slater of Convoke Media, Marilyn G. Haft, Ram Paul Silbey, and Kyle Behling.
The cast is stacked with genre-friendly names. Hall plays a decorated Navy SEAL commander. Lang, known for commanding presence in films like Avatar, takes the role of a famed rear admiral. Forlani steps in as a brilliant CDC physician. Hirsch, whose career stretches from Into the Wild to Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, plays a determined small-town police officer.
Hall also serves as executive producer on Final Invasion, reuniting with producer Todd Slater after their collaboration on the sci-fi drama Roswell Delirium — a pairing that gives the project a familiar creative core behind the camera.
Convoke Media plans to introduce Final Invasion to buyers and strategic partners during the Toronto International Film Festival, the annual September gathering where sales agents pitch finished films and projects-in-progress to international distributors and financiers. That market window often determines which territories a film reaches and on what timeline, well before a single frame is shot.
Production is scheduled to begin in New Mexico later this year, a state whose tax incentives and desert landscapes have made it a recurring hub for genre productions. Additional casting announcements are expected in the coming weeks as the film firms up its ensemble and heads toward its start date.
