Megan Thee Stallion has signed a distribution partnership with Interscope Records through her own Hot Girl Productions company, the three-time Grammy winner announced on Friday, August 14, 2025 (Billboard, PR Newswire).

Under the deal, she retains full ownership of her masters and publishing — the recording rights and the songwriting copyrights that generate royalties — and will release future music independently through Hot Girl Productions, with global distribution and strategic support from Interscope (Billboard).

Steve Berman, vice chairman of Interscope Capitol, welcomed the Houston rapper to the label and said Interscope would partner with Roc Nation to support her (Billboard).

The move ends Megan Thee Stallion's tenure at Warner Music Group, which began with a distribution agreement she signed in February 2024. That deal, structured along similar lines, gave her distribution and global services from the major while letting her release music through Hot Girl Productions and keep her masters and publishing (PR Newswire, February 2024; Variety). Warner's connection to Megan Thee Stallion dates back further still: the label acquired 300 Entertainment, the imprint behind her early releases, in December 2021 (Reuters).

The pattern across both deals is the same: a major label provides distribution muscle and global reach, but the artist holds on to the underlying rights. For Megan Thee Stallion, that has been a non-negotiable. Her independent company, Hot Girl Productions, is the vehicle through which she releases and controls her work.

Alongside the Interscope announcement, she teased her upcoming album Act: III, which she said marks the return of her Tina Snow alter-ego — a persona she has used throughout her career (Billboard). "ACT III IS ON THEE WAY HOTTIES," she wrote on X (Billboard).

Her previous album, Megan, arrived in June 2024 and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, the chart that ranks the most-consumed albums in the United States each week (Billboard). No release date has been confirmed for Act: III.

For fans, the Interscope partnership means new music is on the way — and for the industry, it is another data point in a shift where top-tier artists are treating ownership as the starting position, not the finish line.
