Megan Thee Stallion Earns Nine New RIAA Certifications, Led by 6x Platinum 'Savage'
Megan Thee Stallion picked up nine new RIAA certifications on Monday, August 17, with her 2020 single "Savage" leading the batch at 6x Platinum, according to Billboard.
In the United States, the Recording Industry Association of America — the body that certifies recorded music based on sales and streaming equivalents — awards Platinum status for one million units and Gold for 500,000 units. Each tier multiplies accordingly: 6x Platinum means six million equivalent units.
"Savage," which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 2020, now sits at six million units. Two more singles reached triple-Platinum status, each clearing three million units: "Body" and "Girls in the Hood."
"Mamushi," a collaboration with Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba, was certified Platinum, marking one million units. Four additional tracks earned Gold certifications, each representing 500,000 units: "Cobra," "BOA," "Bigger in Texas," and "Roc Steady" featuring Flo Milli. Megan's Act II album also received a Gold certification.
The new batch arrives just over two weeks after Megan earned her first Diamond certification on August 3, for the 2020 collaboration "WAP" with Cardi B. Diamond denotes ten million equivalent units. The track also gave Cardi B her fourth Diamond certification as a credited artist.
For context, the RIAA's equivalent-unit formula combines traditional digital and physical sales with on-demand audio and video streams, with a specific number of plays counting as one sale. That means a track can reach multi-Platinum status largely through streaming volume rather than purchases alone.
Taken together, the nine certifications span material from across Megan's catalogue, from the 2020 hits that first broke her into the mainstream to more recent standalone singles and the Act II album project. They add to a growing RIAA tally that now includes her first Diamond plaque and multiple multi-Platinum titles.
