Hulu has cancelled the comedy series Deli Boys after two seasons, Variety reported on 14 August 2026. Deadline first broke the news.

The series aired under Hulu's Onyx Collective brand — a content label focused on creators of colour and underrepresented voices — and was produced by 20th Television. Creator Abdullah Saeed built the show alongside developers Jenni Konner and Nora Silver through Konner's production company, Jenni Konner Productions. Michelle Nader served as showrunner and executive produced alongside Saeed, Konner, and Silver.

Deli Boys starred Asif Ali, Saagar Shaikh, and Poorna Jagannathan. Fred Armisen and Andrew Rannells joined the cast for the show's second season.

Both seasons averaged a 98% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, a near-unanimous reception from professional reviewers. That figure, though, measures critic sentiment — not the audience-size or completion metrics that streaming platforms weigh when deciding what stays and what goes.

For context on how these decisions land: a streaming cancellation means the platform has decided not to commission further episodes, even when existing seasons remain available to watch. The call typically rests on a mix of viewership data, production cost, and how a title fits the platform's broader slate — factors Hulu has not publicly detailed for this cancellation.

The Onyx Collective, launched in 2021, functions as a brand within Hulu's original-content pipeline rather than a separate studio. It commissions and develops series that premiere on Hulu in the United States. Deli Boys sat alongside other Onyx titles in a roster that has seen both renewals and cancellations since the brand's inception.

What stands out here is the gap between critical reception and longevity. A 98% average across two seasons is rare. Yet for streaming platforms, strong reviews do not guarantee a third-season order — audience reach and cost efficiency carry more weight in the final accounting.

No replacement project from the same creative team has been announced. The two produced seasons of Deli Boys remain on Hulu.
