'Not Suitable For Work' followed five work-obsessed twenty-somethings living in Manhattan's Murray Hill neighbourhood. The ensemble cast featured Ella Hunt, Avantika Vandanapu, Will Angus, Jack Martin, and Nicholas Duvernay, with Jay Ellis cast as a series regular in September 2025. Deadline reported Ellis's casting. Kaling created the series with Charlie Grandy serving as showrunner. Kaling and Grandy told Variety the show depicted the Gen Z workforce and built love triangles among its characters.
